CHEBOYGAN, Mich.—Citizens National Bank has promoted Sheri Popp, Jessica Smith-Schley and Felix Smith and added Jennifer Opie and Kari Kortz to its leadership team, according to Matthew Keene, president and CEO.

Sheri Popp
Popp was promoted to assistant vice president and credit officer. She joined Citizens National in 2018 as a credit analyst and later advanced to credit manager and credit officer. Popp manages the credit department and works with analysts and lenders on commercial loan approvals. She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Western Michigan University.
Smith-Schley was promoted to associate anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) officer. She joined Citizens National in 2015 and has served in retail banking, loan operations, executive administration and compliance. In her current role, she provides bank-wide compliance support and oversees regulatory monitoring and reporting.
Smith was promoted to information security and technology officer. He joined Citizens National in 2025 as information security and technology manager after banking and information technology roles in the financial services and aerospace industries. He leads the bank’s technology initiatives and information security program.
Opie joined Citizens National as vice president of business banking. She brings more than 20 years of banking experience and serves business clients throughout Emmet County from the bank’s Petoskey office. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University.
Kortz joined Citizens National as vice president and controller. A certified public accountant, she brings 25 years of experience in public and private accounting and most recently served as chief financial officer for American Hospitality Management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Lake Superior State University.
