Portage Community Bank Mourns Loss of CFO Don Herman

RAVENNA, Ohio,— Portage Community Bank announced the passing of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Donald D. “Don” Herman, who passed Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Herman joined the bank in 1999 as senior financial officer and was promoted to CFO in 2009. Over his long tenure, he played a key role in the institution’s financial stability and growth.

“Don was one of the kindest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” said Connie M. Bennett, Chief Executive Officer. “His business acumen, strategy, and creative thinking were invaluable to our organization. Don had an ability to motivate others to do their best, and he always demonstrated strong leadership. He will be missed enormously.”

“Don’s passion and dedication to our organization made a lasting impact,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Robert S. Standardi. “His legacy will continue to inspire us, and he will always be remembered as a trusted colleague and friend.”

Herman is survived by his wife, Delinda, daughter Emma, stepson Boston Walden, and many extended family members and friends.

Standardi is serving as interim CFO. The board and executive leadership team have begun the process of identifying a permanent successor.
